The list of violations is posted on the website along with very graphic photos taken by Officer Wallace. These violations include failure to cap gas lines, cutting electrical wires, leaving volatile products around, including fertilizers and matches, removing fire rated ceiling tiles, disconnecting the fire alarm system, and removing the touch pads. One can only wonder what was in the Board’s mind when they created this condition. Fortunately, our fire inspection official acted quickly to prevent total destruction of the building, including risk to life and property of others.
When these violations were not corrected, Stan Chesley, on behalf of the Village, requested Judge Melba Marsh to grant an injunction ordering the Board of the Ridge Club to correct these serious violations. The Board of the Ridge Club was given twenty-one days by Judge Marsh and the Village to correct the violations. Contrary to Jerry Horwitz’s letter to the members of the Ridge Club stating, “Judge Marsh agreed that the club was taking care of the violations in a timely manner, and an injunction is not necessary.” This representation was false and intended to mislead the residents and the members of the Ridge Club.
At the end of the twenty-one days, the repairs were not made and the club was given another ten days to complete the repairs of these serious and significant safety violations. Finally, at the risk of contempt of court, there seems to be some activity. Has the Board of the Ridge Club finally gotten the message that this dangerous condition cannot be allowed to continue?
Look at the violations and the photographs and ask yourself who is being unreasonable, the Village or the Board of the Ridge Club? The answer is clear. If this were the City of Cincinnati, based upon their zero tolerance policy, the Board would be behind bars for creating this very dangerous condition.
Look at the photos and share them with your neighbors and Ridge Club members so that everyone knows what is going on.
